Local Girl and Cub scouts in the Oregon City Schools were invited to a rodeo at Maumee Bay State Park last months, but there were no calves to rope or bulls to ride.

It was a bike rodeo - a bike safety program geared toward elementary students. The event was conducted by Manda Rice, of Safe Kids of Greater Toledo at Toledo Hospital with the help from Kevin Repeta, of the Northwood Police Department; Mike Poddany, of the Oregon Police Department; and the Jerusalem Township Fire Department. The scouts learned bike safety through a series of education obstacle courses and a bike ride. A safety check was done on each bike and all helmets were properly fitted and checked for safety.
