Fassett students connect “long distance” with Space Station

On Monday, Feb. 23, the students at Fassett Middle School had a wonderful nasa-photoopportunity to witness science and technology at their greatest.

About a year ago, Karina Claydon, eighth-grade science/math teacher, along with Steve Michalski from the Toledo Mobile Radio Association applied for Fassett to be considered for a contact with the International Space Station.

Metro-area students earn honors in AAA competition

Three art students from Notre Dame Academy and Notre Dame Junior Academynda-art-photo earned top honors in AAA’s 65th Annual Traffic Safety Poster Contest. Their works are headed to the National Competition.

Senior Virginia Dionisio, of Northwood, earned first place for the high school bracket.

Lake Schools set kindergarten screening for May 6-7
Lake Local Schools will conduct kindergarten screening in May for children entering kindergarten in 2009-2010.

To be eligible, a child must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1. The screenings will assess speech development, large and small motor skills, language skills and readiness for kindergarten. In addition each child will have a vision and hearing test. The screenings will take approximately 90 minutes.
