Maritime Academy purchases simulators in landmark deal

Renee Marazon, President, The Maritime Academy of Toledo, has announced a landmark agreement with VSTEP B.V. of Rotterdam in The Netherlands that will provide new simulators for the school and allow VSTEP to establish the first NAUTIS maritime simulation demonstration center in the U.S.

Owens delivers backpacks, supplies to area elementaries

On Sept. 18 and 19, representatives from Owens Community College made a special delivery to several area school students – backpacks, crayons, markers and assorted other school supplies – through the annual Backpack to the Future outreach program. Over the past three months, Owens Community College’s Alumni Association in collaboration with Books-A-Million Inc., Directions Credit Union, Great Lakes Credit Union and GenoaBank collected new and gently used backpacks and new school supplies for distribution to disadvantaged school children throughout Northwest Ohio.

Enrollment up nearly 10 percent at Cardinal Stritch

Being unique is nothing new at Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School, and that is paying off for the school when it comes to attracting new students.

Since 2011, the Catholic high school in Oregon has seen nearly a 10 percent increase in enrollment.  During that time, enrollment has gone from 243 high school students, to 265.
