The Oak Harbor High School Mixed Choir competed March 10 at the District II Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Adjudicated Event. Bands and choirs from throughout Northwest Ohio participated in the competition.
In Class A, the Mixed Choir received a “I” rating from all four adjudicators, the highest rating possible. The OHHS Concert Band, in class B, also received a “I” rating from all four adjudicators, making Oak Harbor one of only five schools out of a pool of more than 20 to receive such high marks.
The Mixed Choir is the most elite of the four choral performing ensembles at OHHS. Students in the choir actively participate in high school and college-level honors choirs and music festivals. The choir has a rigorous performing schedule at various community events, college concerts and local church concerts.
Every four years, the choir travels to New York City where it has a standing invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall. Funds for the trip are raised through BCS Music Booster funds and student fundraisers.
