Woodmore seniors set sail for and enjoy the Bahamas

On March 24, the Woodmore High School senior class finally set sail on the Carnival ship Sensation. They set out on a three-day voyage to the Bahamas and made stops at Nassau and a private island, Blue Lagoon.

The senior trip has been going on for many years and is about spending time with classmates and friends before graduating from high school.

Many students dreaded the 24-hour bus ride down to Port Canaveral, but it was easily tolerated considering the payoff in the end.

After setting sail from shore, the first stop was Nassau, where the students took a ferry to Blue Lagoon. Many things were offered to the students at Blue Lagoon, including a dolphin encounter, a small shop to buy souvenirs and a swimming area with blow up water jungle gyms. A lot of students enjoyed the dolphin encounter where they got to pet, feed and swim with the dolphins.

“It was so cool to be that close to an animal that many people don't ever even get to see like that in their lifetime,” said Chelsea Garver about her experience.

After the students were done at Blue Lagoon, they had a chance to go shopping at the local straw market in Nassau. It was a huge culture shock to many people who hadn’t seen an environment like it before.

All in all, after the fancy dinners, 24-hour bus rides, days of soaking up the sun and swimming with the dolphins, students said it was a very enjoyable trip that brought everyone closer together.
