read and write to a competent level by giving to our community the necessary tools to accomplish these goals,” said Consul Sanchez-Ventura. “This is the main reason why the Consulate of Mexico selected L. Hollingworth School for the first Dia de los Niños, Dia de los Libros event in Toledo.”

Since 1925, “Día de los Niños” has grown as an annual celebration throughout Mexico. This day recognizes children, pays homage to their importance in society, and endorses their well-being. “Dia de los Libros” became a part of the tradition in the late 1990s to incorporate the promotion of literacy and the importance of linking all children to books, languages, and cultures. The linkage promotes bilingual and multilingual literacy in this multicultural nation, and fosters global understanding through reading.

Serving students from kindergarten through sixth grade, the mission of the L. Hollingworth School for the Talented and Gifted is to promote academic excellence and provide students with a viable educational alternative that fosters an academically challenging environment focused on the learner’s needs.

The school is located at 824 Sixth St., Toledo. Visit hollingworthschool.com for more information.
