Kaye Koevenig, Owens Alumni Association Community Service Chair, helps Walbridge Elementary student Myles Lowe try on one of the backpacks delivered to the school as part of the “Backpack to the Future” supply drive, sponsored by the alumni association, in collaboration with Books-A-Million, Walt Churchill’s Market, Great Lakes Credit Union and Genoa Bank. The drive netted more than 410 backpacks and more than 8,700 school supply items, which were delivered to 22 area elementary schools. Miles chose a blue backpack – his favorite color.
