Ray Cedoz and Bill Schweizer, president of the Lucas County Farm Bureau, recently presented a check to Robert Scarlett, the father of Celeste Scarlett on her behalf during the bureau’s recent annual meeting.

Miss Scarlett, of Maumee who had begun classes at the Culinary Institute of America, and was not able to attend the meeting, was the winner of a college scholarship established in honor of Mr. Cedoz by the Lucas County Farm Bureau, in honor of Cedoz’s lifelong example of serving others, service to his community, caring for and loving his family, and honoring his God.

The scholarship will be awarded annually. Students of active and associate Farm Bureau families entering or returning to college in the fall of 2009, are eligible to apply. Applications will be mailed to high school guidance counselors.They may also be obtained from the Farm Bureau office, located at 221 Main St. Luckey. Nationwide Insurance agents may also be contacted for information. Completed applications must be submitted by March 31. Students selected will be notified by May 31.
