Terra State nursing graduates receive pins during ceremony
The ninth graduating class of Terra State Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing program received their nursing pins during a ceremony Dec. 18 at the college.
Susan Kajfasz, MSN, RN, CNS, NE-BC, assistant professor of nursing at Terra, was chosen by the graduating class to be the keynote speaker.
“The art of our profession is our beautiful ability to care and communicate in a therapeutic manner with our patients,” she said. “It is that intuitive part of us that knows something is going wrong with our patient when maybe the lab or x-ray tells us something different. But we can look at our patients’ eyes and know we must act quickly and listen to what they are telling us.”
Each nursing graduate chose someone to pin him or her. Each also received a Nightingale Lamp, which was lit by nursing faculty, and then the graduates recited the Nightingale Pledge.
A small reception followed the ceremony.
Graduates included Sarah Gonzalez, Tysha Mosser, Meghan Rich and Walter “Skip” Turner, all of Fremont; Allison Apling, Oak Harbor; Jessica Garber, Graytown; Chris Meyer, Gibsonburg; Jamie O’Connell, Bradner and Gina Jean-Paul of Toledo.
