Several members of the Ladies Auxiliary from VFW Post 2947 of Fremont visited the new Veterans’ Center at Terra State Community College.

The contingent did not arrive empty handed. The ladies brought a new coffee maker along with coffee, creamer, filters and cups, as well as plastic silverware, plates, napkins and several patriotic décor items.

Linda Derucki, Shelby Forgatsch and Jean Frey, and (standing),
Joyce Spencer of Terra, Jackie Dowell and Lana Hasselbach,
both of the auxiliary, and Kathy Berger of Terra.

“We are so appreciative of these gifts,” said Joyce Spencer, Success Mentor for Veterans. “It is our goal that our veteran students feel comfortable in this space, and what’s more welcoming than a stimulating conversation over a great cup of coffee?”

“We hope they can help us spread the word about our center and about the educational opportunities our veterans have at Terra State,” she said.

The ladies enjoyed a tour of the center and lunch in the college cafeteria.

“We are very happy to partner with Terra State to provide for our veterans who are seeking to further their education after protecting and serving all of us,” auxiliary president, Jackie Dowell, said.
