The 25th Lights Before Christmas at The Toledo Zoo is truly an auspicious occasion, and to celebrate, the zoo is offering one lucky winner the chance to kick off the whole event.

Visit the zoo’s Lights Before Christmas page at www.toledozoo.org/lights through Sunday, Nov. 14 to enter to win an opportunity to flip the switch that lights the zoo’s 85-foot Norway spruce at The Lights Before Christmas kick-off event. The ceremonial lighting of the tree will be held Nov. 19 between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

As part of The Lights Before Christmas Green Lights contest, zoo wants to know what you’ll be doing to make the holidays a little bit greener this year. Whether you use recycled or reusable gift bags, switch to energy-saving LED lights for your tree or take your own canvas bags with you for holiday shopping, there are many ways you can give a little extra gift to our environment.

For a complete set of rules, visit www.toledozoo.org/lights.

Presented by KeyBank, The Lights Before Christmas is open from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31 (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (the zoo closes at 9 p.m.) and Friday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (the zoo closes at 10 p.m.).

Admission prices are $11 for adults, $8 for children (2-11) and seniors (60+), and free for children under age 2. Discounted tickets can be purchased at KeyBank locations throughout Northwest Ohio and online at www.toledozoo.org/lights. Toledo Zoo members receive one free visit to The Lights Before Christmas.

The Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, visit www.toledozoo.org or call 419-385-4040. Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. ID showing proof of residency is required.
