On Saturday, May 8, at 11:15 a.m. Bittersweet, will dedicate the outdoor pavilion on the grounds of Bittersweet Farms, locatedc in Whitehouse.
The 25 by 40-foot wood framed outdoor pavilion will enrich the therapeutic outdoor programming at Bittersweet Farms by providing a safe protected outdoor area for a variety of programs.
The pavilion is located in the middle of a walking track that participants use everyday. The addition of the pavilion will encourage more outdoor programming in a natural setting, which has shown to be therapeutic for persons with autism. It is large enough for eight picnic tables which will also make it a good place for family and friends to gather for picnics and other outdoor activities.
The pavilion was made possible through funding from a variety of local foundations and donors including: The France Stone Foundation, Lott Conlon Foundation, Landman Goldman Foundation, Toledo Rotary Foundation, Edward Lamb Foundation, Zenith Foundation, Ohio Homemakers, Delta Chapter of Eagles, proceeds of the Doug McCabe Benefit, the proceeds of the Fall on the Farm Raffle and a number of other individual donors.
“We are thrilled and grateful to have the outdoor pavilion.” said Executive Director Vicki Obee-Hilty, “Thanks to the generosity of our donors another dream has been realized that will enrich the lives of our participants.”
In addition to the dedication, Bittersweet is also hosting a Mother’s Day cook-out immediately following the ceremony at the pavilion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase annuals, hanging baskets and vegetable plants grown on the grounds of Bittersweet from 10 am to 2 pm on that day.
