Oregon to hold Earth Day collection 4-24

The City of Oregon will hold an Earth Day Collection April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oregon Municipal Building, 5330 Seaman Rd., Oregon.

The event is open to residents of Oregon and Harbor View (proof of residency required with driver’s license or other document).

Accepted items include solvent-based paint products (stain, shellacs, varnishes), paint thinner, gasoline (non-returnable containers only), adhesives, driveway sealers, automotive products (antifreeze, auto grease, brake fluid), automotive batteries, household batteries (terminals taped), household cleaners, bleach, fluorescent light bulbs and pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.

Additional onsite collections for computer equipment (CPUs, monitors, scanners, laptops, printers, keyboards, mice and speakers) and light truck or passenger car tires will be offered. There will also be secure onsite document destruction, and clothing and shoe collections to benefit a local non-profit group, and a collection of canned and non-perishable food items for donation to a local food bank.
