Construction projects are gearing up across Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams and Wood counties.
Lucas/Wood County
1. Interstate 75, Disalle Bridge Deck Overlay work resumes March 29. Bridge deck overlay on I-75 in both directions, from Wales Road to Erie Street, including the Disalle Bridge. Through March 29, expect intermittent lane restrictions on I-75 in both directions from Wales Road to Erie Street, for project preparation work. All lanes of traffic will be open in this area during peak traffic times: weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 8 p.m.
• March 29 at 7 a.m. through April 1, crews will begin the traffic shift of I-75 in both directions, from Wales Road to Erie Street. One lane of northbound traffic will be maintained in the current northbound right shoulder and one lane of northbound traffic will be maintained in the current southbound left lane. Northbound and southbound traffic will be separated by a median. Southbound traffic will use the southbound right and center lanes.
Once the work zone is established, I-75 in the construction zone will be reduced to two lanes in both directions throughout the duration of the project. Additionally on Monday, March 29 at 7 a.m., the following ramps will be closed:
• Ramp from Wales Road to northbound I-75. Detour: southbound I-75; Buck Road; northbound I-75. • Ramp from westbound Miami Street (SR 65) to northbound I-75. Detour: southbound I-75; Buck Road; northbound I-75. • Ramp from eastbound Miami Street (SR 65) to northbound I-75. Detour: southbound I-75; Buck Road; northbound I-75. • Ramp from South Avenue to southbound I-75. Detour: northbound I-75; Collingwood Boulevard (Exit 201A); southbound I-75.
The ramp from northbound I-75 to Miami Street (SR 65) (Exit 199) will remain open at this time.
Upon completion of northbound work, traffic will be shifted and ramp closures will change. ODOT will advise when this occurs.
2. Interstate 75, Scale Maintenance, Wood County: On Tuesday, April 6 from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m., the right lane of northbound I-75, just north of SR 281, will be closed for scale maintenance. All work is weather permitting.
3. Interstate 280 Trench Project, Lucas County. Work includes filling the existing I-280 trench, reconnecting city streets in Toledo and building Tribute Park. Front and Summit Streets are open, as well as the new Craig Bridge Street. Through fall 2010, Dearborn Avenue at Front Street is closed. Detour: Carbon Street. Additionally through fall 2010, Ontario and Michigan streets between Buckeye and Ash streets will be closed for structure removal and roadway replacement. Detour: Buckeye Street; Ash Street; Erie Street; Buffalo Street.
Ottawa/Sandusky/Seneca County
1. Port Clinton Lift Bridge (SR 163): Bridge Repair, Ottawa County: The Port Clinton Lift Bridge (SR 163) over the Portage River is now open to vehicular traffic. Through Friday, April 16, short-term full closures (approximately 15 minutes in duration) and intermittent lane restrictions are possible for bridge repair. Detour: SR 2. All work is weather permitting.
The Port Clinton Lift Bridge over the Portage River is closed to masted navigation through April 1 for bridge repair. From April 1 through April 5, the bridge will be open to masted navigation, but interested parties requesting the bridge open should notify the Ottawa County Engineer 24 hours in advance at 419-734-6777.
2. SR 19/590 Bridge Repair, Ottawa County: Repair four bridges on SR 19 and SR 590 in Ottawa County. From March 29 through May 14, SR 19 between Toussaint Portage Road and Moore Road, will be closed for bridge deck repair. Detour: SR 2; SR 590; SR 163.
3. SR 2: Rest Area Improvements, Ottawa County: Through April 2010, the SR 2 rest area in Ottawa County will be closed for remodeling. The rest area, ramps and all parking areas will be closed during this time.
