Cardinal Stritch High School students were eager to return to school after the winter break. When they returned to school this week, it wasn't to the old routine – at least not this week.
Instead, the students are participating in "Seminars," a weeklong series of fun and engaging workshops.
School administrators recognize coming back to school after several days off for the holidays can be a drag. However, lessons in English, Physics and Calculus are put on hold for a week while students learn about a range of topics including assistance dogs, doll-making, rocket-launching and quilting, to name a few.
“Seminars give teachers the opportunity to teach something they are passionate about and students get the chance to learn something they might not otherwise learn in or out of the classroom,” said Tim Mahoney, Stritch principal.“We’ve found it to be a beneficial way to kick off the second semester by offering learning experiences outside of the traditional schedule.”
Seminars are being held during regular school hours Jan. 5 through Jan. 8. The regular school schedule resumes Monday, Jan. 11.
