Winter Olympics 2010 is about a month away and members of the Bowling Green Curling Club are excited about the upcoming games.

The club members anticipate an increased interest in the sport following coverage of Olympic curling and have scheduled open curls on successive Fridays and Saturdays during and immediately following the Olympic coverage.

Instructional leagues for those who want to improve their game are scheduled for the two weeks following the open curls.

For those who may want to avoid the Olympic rush, the club is offering an open curl Friday, Jan. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the BGSU Ice Arena on Mercer Road in Bowling Green. (From I-75, take exit 181, turn west on Wooster to Mercer Road.)

During open curl sessions, club members give basic instruction followed by a short game. All equipment is furnished.

The cost is $10 per person. It is recommended that participants dress in warm, comfortable clothing (air temperature is about 40 degrees), and bring clean athletic shoes to put wear on the ice.

For more information, visit the BGCC Web site at www.bgcurlingclub.com or call Mike at 419-262-1143.
