The Sandusky County Health Department has released H1N1 clinic dates for those in priority groups as well as for the general public.
One additional clinic will be held for priority groups only Thursday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sandusky County Health Department, 2000 Countryside Dr., Fremont. Target groups include: • pregnant women • people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age • direct healthcare workers and emergency medical services personnel • persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old • people ages 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
Those children age 6 months through age 9 who received their first dose of H1N1 vaccine on or before Nov. 12 can receive their second dose at this clinic.
The Ohio Department of Health has announced that beginning Monday, Dec. 14, the H1N1 vaccine will be available to anyone who would like to receive it. Two additional clinics have been scheduled and are open to anyone who would like to receive the H1N1 vaccine. These clinics are scheduled for Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Dec. 17 from 3-7 p.m. Both clinics will be held at the Flower Building on the Sandusky County Fairgrounds.
Children age 6 months through age 9 that received their first dose of H1N1 vaccine on or before Nov. 16 can receive their second dose at these clinics.
It is important to note that the doors of the clinics will not open until the scheduled clinic start time.
In addition to being vaccinated, Ohioans can help stop the spread of illness by washing hands thoroughly and often; covering mouths when sneezing or coughing; and staying home from work or school if sick.
Individuals attending the clinics should dress in layers, with short sleeves available for ease of vaccination; there will be no privacy. There is no cost for the vaccine.
Questions regarding the H1N1 influenza vaccination may be directed to the Sandusky County Health Department at 419-334-6377.
