The Sandusky County Health Department will hold the first H1N1 vaccination clinic this Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until the supply is exhausted, at Fremont Ross High School gymnasium, 1100 North St., Fremont.
This clinic is only for Sandusky County residents who fall into the priority groups set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and the Ohio Department of Health. These target groups include:
• pregnant women • people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age • direct healthcare workers and emergency medical services personnel • persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old • people ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
Based upon availability, individuals between the ages of 2-49 that are not immuno-compromised will receive the Flumist nasal vaccine. All other individuals on the priority list, including pregnant women, will receive the intramuscular injection. Those with questions about the status of their health should check with their healthcare provider. No physician will be on-site.
Some residents may have pre-registered through the Ohio Department of Health Web site. This registration will not guarantee receipt of the vaccine over any other individuals.
Individuals attending the clinic should dress in layers, with short sleeves available for ease of vaccination; there will be no privacy.
There will be no cost for the vaccine. Please bring a current driver’s license or photo identification.
