So you’ve mastered “Guitar Hero” and you’re thinking you’re ready to put down the virtual guitar and pick up a real one?
Local guitar instructor Joe Rienhart is encouraging would-be rock stars or those who just want to give the instrument a give it a try and now through Sept. 28, he’s offering a free trial lesson.
Reinhart, who has been teaching guitar for 35 years, currently offers lessons Mondays at Rick’s Café on Woodville Road in Northwood. Some locals may remember him as the owner of Reinhart’s Music and the East Toledo Music Center.
He has also had a career playing on stage, and has played with Del Shannon and Johnny and the Hurricanes.
“I still like playing, but I really enjoy the teaching – in many ways, it’s better than performing,” he said.
“I currently have students as young as 6 and as old as 75,” he said. “I enjoy the one-on-one. Some may not be especially talented, but they come along, with practice and some work.”
Those who want to try the guitar needn’t purchase an instrument for the first lesson. Reinhart says he’s happy to help new guitarists choose the right instrument for them.
“You don’t have to spend a fortune on a guitar when you’re getting started,” he said.
Reinhart’s fee for lessons is $17 for a 30-45 minute lesson. Call 419-536-2467 to arrange a session or for more details.
