The Pemberville Freedom Area Historical Society will again sponsor “Live in the House” concerts in the Pemberville Opera House monthly September through May.
This season’s concerts will include nine shows a wide range of programming from The Glass City Dixieland band; “The Phantom of the Opera” silent movie starring Lon Chaney, The Voices of Harmony Barbershop choir; and “A Night At The Opera”– a play depicting the history of the opera house brought to the Pemberville Opera House by the National Endowment for the Arts, to name a few.
A total of nine shows will round out the series and tickets are available individually for $10 each or $75 for tickets to all nine performances.
To kick off the series, the Opera House will have a special of evening of dinner and music. The evening will start out with a chicken BBQ on the old brick street, followed by a concert in the Opera House featuring The Night Owls, a unique 10-piece orchestra specializing in the authentic performance of the irresistible dance music of the 1920s.
The BBQ will begin at 4 p.m. and runs until the chicken is gone. This cost is $8, which includes sides and fresh homemade pie. The concert will follow at 7:30 p.m. (ticket required).

The complete “Live in the House” concert series schedule includes:
• Sept. 5: The Glass City Dixieland Band, entertaining with the sounds of America’s big bands.
• Oct. 3: “A Night At The Opera,” a play produced for opera houses of the late 1890s that will be presented only on 10 stages throughout Ohio. Presented by the National Endowment for the Arts.
• Nov. 7: The Boogie Woogie Kid, billed as one of Detroit’s finest Boogie Woogie pianists.
• Dec. 5: The Voices of Harmony, a 30-voice ensemble offering an evening of barbershop harmonies.
• Jan. 2: “The Phantom of the Opera,” a 1924 silent film starring Lon Chaney. Featuring Damien Stout on piano.
• Feb. 6: The Four Corners Quartet offering a lively evening of Southern Gospel harmony.
• March 6: Local favorite Kerry Clark, singer, songwriter and storyteller.
• April 10: Elixir re-inventing American music from the 1800s into unique arrangements.
• May 1: Rick Prater and the Midnight Travelers offering Bluegrass at its best. Back by popular demand.
