Janet Clough, of Curtice, invites members of the community to participate in the 4th Annual Team Fox Walk to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. at Nature Trails Park in Northwood.

Clough started the walk to honor her father, Lester Cowell, and to make a difference for those living with Parkinson’s disease.

“Over the past several years, I have met many courageous families impacted by this disease,” she said. “For me, this reinforces the importance of the work funded by the Foundation through continuing support.”

Each year, Clough’s family organizes the walk the day before Father’s Day. The theme for this year is “Going the Extra Mile.”

The trail is a one-mile loop through woods and fields on flat terrain. Participants can walk as many times around as they wish. “Alternatively, they can sit under the shade trees and visit with Mom, since she usually gets her half mile in early.”  Refreshments and snacks will be provided to walkers, who are urged to bring sunscreen.

Visit Clough’s Team Fox Web page at www.teamfox.org and click on "find a member or event" for more information about the walk or to make a donation. For 2009, all donations through Team Fox will be matched by a generous donor, Clough said.

Nature Trails Park is located two miles east of I-280 on Curtice Road between Bradner and Wynn roads.
