Toastmasters present Youth Leadership Program at St. Boniface
Three members of the Great Eastern Toastmasters Club recently presented an eight-week Youth Leadership Program to middle school students at St. Boniface Catholic School in Oak Harbor.
Students elected officers, learned parliamentary procedure skills and how to prepare and present planned speeches, practiced impromptu speaking and focused on listening effectively and evaluating what they heard.
At the end of the training, the students designed and presented a full, professional program to their parents and community members at a special awards banquet.
The program was presented by Toastmasters Club members Julie Selvey, coordinator and assistant coordinators Kathy Varga and Jim Taylor.
“We are so proud of these students,” Selvey said. “By teaching these skills, young people will be better prepared to meet the demands and challenges in their lives and in today’s world.
