Poster contest winners announced
The Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District announced the winners of the Ottawa County Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities poster contest.
Both Ottawa County winners are Genoa Middle School seventh-graders. Adrianna Williams won first place and Alyssa Herman came in second. Williams’ poster will be sent to the state competition, where two winners from across the state will be chosen and head to the national contest.
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the NACD Auxiliary sponsored the 2021 poster contest. The theme affirms how trees and forests are critical to providing clean air and water, healthy soil, abundant wildlife habitat, and valuable products we use every day. Entrants were challenged to demonstrate the importance of everyone doing their part to care for trees.
Williams and Herman were featured on Ottawa SWCD’s social media. Their posters will be made into placemats for the Ottawa SWCD’s Annual Banquet in September.
