Penta honors 2019 Outstanding Alumni at Nov. 7 banquet

        Penta Career Center selected seven former students as recipients of the 2019 Outstanding Alumni Award. The alumni were recognized during an evening banquet at Penta on Nov. 7.
        Each year, the Penta Career Center Outstanding Alumni Award is bestowed upon individuals who have completed a career-technical training program at Penta and who are currently working in a successful career. Since the award’s inception in 1993, 157 former high school or adult education students have been honored with the award. This is Penta’s 27th year of recognizing alumni.
        The 2019 honorees include:
        • Elmer Dunberger, of Northwood, is a 1973 graduate of Northwood High School and completed his career-technical training through Penta’s Auto Mechanics program. He is retired from the Toledo Refining Company where he worked as an Emergency Response Supervisor. Dunberger is also retired as fire chief from the City of Northwood.
        • Matthew Harvey, of Luckey, is a 1991 graduate of Genoa High School and completed his career-technical training through Penta’s Cement Trades program. He is a transportation manager for the Ohio Department of Transportation – Northwood Outpost.
        • Diana (Escobar) Rodriguez, of Holland, is a 1999 graduate of Genoa High School and completed her career-technical training through Penta’s Administrative Assistant program. She is an administrative assistant/paralegal for the U.S. Courts, Office of the Federal Public Defender in Toledo.
        • Ryan Smith, of Perrysburg, is a 1997 graduate of Perrysburg High School and completed his career-technical training through Penta’s Security & Law Enforcement program. He is a sales coordinator for Vehtek Systems in Bowling Green.
        • Ivan “Jake” Lee Smith, Jr., of Toledo, is a 1997 graduate of Maumee High School and completed his career-technical training through Penta’s Marketing Education program. He is a broker/owner of Serenity Realty in Toledo.             • April (Zitzman) Rietzke, of Fostoria, is a 1997 graduate of Swanton High School and completed her career-technical training through Penta’s Office Professional Co-op program. She is the director of marketing management for MadAveGroup in Toledo.
        • Jessica (Arnold) Spilker, of Weston, is a 1996 graduate of Elmwood High School and completed her career-technical training through Penta’s Cosmetology program. She is a Keune Brand Manager for Premier Beauty Supply in Northbrook, Illinois.
