Ottawa County: Grand jury issues indictments

After a recent session of the Ottawa County Grand Jury, indictments have now been returned against the following individuals, according to Prosecuting Attorney James VanEerten:
-Jonathan Robinson, Oak Harbor, has been indicted on four counts each of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, all felonies. According to reports of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Robinson was an athletic coach at a school attended by a student with whom he was involved in a sexual relationship.
-Richard Ontko, Oak Harbor, was charged with one felony count of possession of drugs, after he was reportedly in possession of cocaine at an Oak Harbor business last month.
-Josue Dupervil, Lithonia, Georgia, was charged with one count each of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and possession of drugs, after troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol allegedly found him in possession of psilocyn and a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in January.
-Timothy Coon, who is currently incarcerated in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, has been indicted on felony charges of obstructing official business, inducing panic, and resisting arrest, along with a misdemeanor count of aggravated menacing. According to reports of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call made by Coon, who was threatening violence. Coon was reportedly holding a machete and continuing to make threats when deputies arrived, prompting them to forcibly take the weapon from him.
-Rayann Diebert, Curtice, has been charged with one felony count each of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of eutylone. According to reports of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Diebert was found in possession of the drugs during a traffic stop last month.
-Jaiya Murphy, Toledo, was charged with one felony count of possession of drugs, after agents of the Ohio Investigative Unit allegedly found her in possession of methamphetamine last summer on Put-in- Bay.
-Vance Dicks, Monroe, Michigan, has been charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree, along with misdemeanor alcohol related traffic offenses, after he was allegedly found in possession of a loaded firearm during a traffic stop by officers of the Clay Township Police Department last month.
-Mason VanNess, Oak Harbor, was indicted on two counts of possession of drugs and one count of trafficking in drugs, after officers of the Oak Harbor Police Department reportedly found him in possession of marihuana and psilocin in February.
-Paul Carpenter, Port Clinton, has been indicted on one count of passing bad checks, a felony of the fifth degree, after he wrote a $9,000 check to an individual last summer, then stopped payment on it.
-Harry Randolph and Kendra Ellis, both of Toledo, have each been indicted on felony counts of trafficking in marijuana and possession of marijuana, after the two were found in possession of over 1,000 grams of marihuana during a traffic stop by the Ohio State Highway Patrol last month.
-Darius Bowles, Eaton, Ohio, was charged with one felony count of trafficking in drugs, after agents of the Ohio Investigative Unit allegedly found him in possession of marihuana that was packaged for distribution last summer at Put in Bay.
-Steven Syrowski, Berlin Heights, Ohio, was indicted on one count of Possession of fentanyl, a felony, along with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug abuse instruments. According to reports of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Syrowski was reportedly found in possession of drugs and hypodermic needles during a traffic stop in February.
-Chauncey Darden, Sandusky, has been charged with one felony count of possession of drugs, after he was reportedly found in possession of prescription drugs prescribed to someone else during a traffic stop in January.
-Tracie West, Oak Harbor, has been charged with one count each of possession of a fentanyl-related compound and possession of drug paraphernalia, after she was found in possession of the items during a traffic stop by the Oak Harbor Police Department.
-James Wright, who is currently being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, has been indicted on charges of domestic violence, felonious assault, and assault of a peace officer, Obstructing official business, and disrupting public services. According to reports of the Port Clinton Police Department, Wright caused serious physical harm to a family or household member, and also assaulted an officer trying to arrest him.
-Robert Cole, Toledo, has been charged with one felony count of possession of drugs, after he was reportedly found in possession of psilocyn during a traffic stop by deputies of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office last November.
-Amanda Giles, who is currently being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, was charged with felony counts of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug abuse instruments, after she was allegedly found in possession of the drugs in a Port Clinton business earlier this month.
-Jose Flores, address unknown, was charged with one count of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, after he was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office in February.
-Markum Boyd, who is currently incarcerated in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, was charged with one count of vandalism, after he destroyed several items belonging to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office earlier this month.
-Leo Mahoney, III, Port Clinton, has been indicted on 76 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and one count of tampering with evidence. According to reports, Mahoney was reportedly found in possession of pornographic images depicting children when the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and Special Response Team executed a search warrant on his residence last month.
Warrants have been issued for Boyd, VanNess, Wright, Randolph, Coon, Robinson, Mahoney, Diebert, Flores, and Giles. Summonses have been issued to all other defendants to make their initial appearance in the Ottawa County Common Pleas Court in May.
