Michael "Mike" Vernon Mottmiller
Michael V. Mottmiller, age 50, of Oregon OH passed away at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital with family by his side on April 20, 2021.
Michael attended Northwood High School, Penta County Vocational, and Northwest Ohio Construction School. He worked hard his whole life for the ones he loved and had many jobs over the years.
Always known for his work ethic and drive he worked as a Drop Box Integrity Specialist at FedEx Express for the last 10 years. He made several special friendships throughout his work career. In past years, Mike worked as a courier driver for FedEx Ground, a commercial painter with Lakeside Interiors and OCP, and a laborer at Great Lakes Windows. But, some of his favorite memories were those of his early years working at Sunoco Full Service Gas station straight out of high school, where he pursued his love of cars.
Michael had an enduring strength of character and always remained resilient in the face of any obstacle. He was exceedingly kind and generous; always playful, joking and teasing; spending time with family, or lending a helping hand.
Michael was a loving husband and proud father who enjoyed being together with his wife, two devoted children Mia and Alec and sweet dog companion, Rudy. He enjoyed fixing cars, working in the garage, plowing snow for friends, snowmobiling, sitting around a good campfire, good family movie time and relaxing on a pontoon.
Family and friends will remember him as the life of the party, always bringing his contagious smile and laugh. Michael’s love for football showcased by his continued loyalty to the Cleveland Browns and a love for classic rock music. That same love for music he instilled in his children.
Michael’s memory will be kept alive by the love of his life, Elizabeth (Becerra) Mottmiller; daughter, Mia Mottmiller (Jacobai Schwind); son, Alec Mottmiller; and sister, Kristina Mauter. Mike leaves behind parent-in-laws and many uncles, aunts, sibling-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved family friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon “Butch” Lynn Mottmiller and Mariann Carol Mauter (Bartok); Grandparents, Vernon Edward Mottmiller, Maude Mary Mottmiller (Wolf), Marie Bartok Gallagher (Tokar), Frank Bartok, John Gallagher and Aunt-in-Law, Mary Lou Cardona.
Family and friends gathered for a memorial send off for Michael last week on Friday, April 30th, 2021. The celebration of Michael’s life was held at his favorite place to be, his home.
Michael impacted so many lives by simply lending a hand or being a supportive shoulder. He treasured his family and friends deeply. His character was astounding and his heart was pure. He will be missed by many.
