Mary Ellen Buckley

Mary Ellen Buckley age 92, of Curtice, Ohio passed from this life Tuesday, March 14, 2023, surrounded by her children. Mary Ellen was born in Pennsylvania to John and Loretta Whalen. She married her husband Jim and together they created what is now the Buckley family. They moved many, many times in their married life, moving to Arizona and Florida and eventually ending up in Ohio.

Mary Ellen was a kind and gentle woman with a very strong will and deep faith in God and prayer. She was an avid seamstress making many beautiful outfits and dresses for her children and grandchildren. Her love was her family, she enjoyed each and every event in their lives. Celebrating with her presence and advice so very proud of all their accomplishments. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Timothy (Cheryl) Buckley, Terry (Dee) Buckley, and Tonia (Dennis) Adkins; daughter-in-law Nancy Buckley; grandchildren T.J. (Katie), Scott (Torie), Sean (Brianna), Wesley, Chad (Sarah), Lucas (Amber), Kelsey, Brendan (Ashley) and Brittany Buckley, Justin (Elyse), Jeremiah (Miranda) and Jarrod (Devon) Adkins; great-grandchildren Logan, Tyler, Kyle, and Samantha Buckley, Kinsley and Isabelle Martikan, Brooklyn and Braelynn Adkins; Siblings Loretta Warcholik, Maureen Schmidt, Skip (Rose) Whalen, and Jack Whalen. She was preceded in death by her husband James, son Thomas, and brothers Leo and William Whalen.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2 until 8 p.m. A recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church 1105 Elliston Rd. Martin, Ohio on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Williston Cemetery in Allen Township.

Special and gracious thanks to her hospice nurse Elizabeth, whom Mary Ellen referred to as her special angel. Your care and concern were more than any family could ask for. Memorial contributions are appreciated to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
