Mark R. Witt

Mark R. Witt, 58, of Genoa, Ohio, died Saturday morning, March 27, 2021, exactly 4 years after the death of his father, Richard.  He had been a patient at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, since Thursday.  Mark courageously fought a three-year battle with cancer.  Mark was born in Oregon, Ohio on May 9, 1962 to Richard and Alice (Komives) Witt and was a 1980 graduate of Genoa High School.  He married Lucy F. (Tschappat) in Genoa on June 4, 2010 and she survives.
Mark was a bus driver for TARTA, in Toledo for 30 years, running many different routes.  He was a great cook and collected many cookbooks over the years.  His love of cooking came from his close relationship with his grandmother, Alice Vasill, who owned a restaurant in Gould City, Michigan.  Mark loved the outdoors, and he shared that love with his grandson, Max. He and Max took many day trips to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.  His favorite thing to do was cruise through Maumee Bay State Park and watch the wildlife, looking for deer, turkeys, ducks, and many other species of wildlife.  He also had long lasting interest in trains.
Mark is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lucy, mother, Alice Witt, children, Cody A. (Sarah) Witt, Nathan (Brittany) Laderach, Katarina (Jordan) Leete, grandchildren, Max, Sophia, Alex, Charlotte, and brother, Keith A. Witt.  He was preceded in death by his father, Richard and grandmother Alice Vasill.
A memorial service for Mark will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, March 29, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, 21440 Toledo Street, P.O. Box 235, Williston, Ohio 43468.  Interment will be held later in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist., Station #36, 101 6th Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430 or St. John Lutheran Church.  The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa is assisting with arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
