On Saturday, July 20, residents of Lucas County will receive free admission to Historic Sauder Village, 22611 SR 2, Archbold, in observance of Lucas County Community Appreciation Day.
“We look forward to having Lucas County residents join us on July 20 for this special opportunity to visit Sauder Village for free,” said Kim Krieger, Media Relations. “Thanks to EDGE for sponsoring this special opportunity for all Lucas County residents to spend time together while visiting Ohio’s largest living-history destination for free.”
A visit to Sauder Village offers plenty for guests to see and do while visiting historic homes, farms, gardens and community shops. Families can now take a walk into a more modern age while exploring part of the 1920s Main Street. The relocated District 16 Schoolhouse and Doctor’s Office, as well as the Barbershop, Depot and Bandstand are now open at the 1920s Main Street.
By late summer, plans call for the Livery, Car Dealership and Gas Station to also be ready for guests to enjoy. Also new this season, a ride on the Erie Express Train is included with admission to the Historic Village.
Throughout the day guests can enjoy themed experiences with an emphasis on historic cooking, farming and crafts. Activities will encourage guests to discover the power of water, help pack a wagon, learn about horses, pigs, cows and how to milk a goat. Guests can explore the Museum Building, watch craftsmen at work, visit baby animals and explore the popular “Explore Our Ecosystem” hands-on exhibit in the Garden Shed.
On Saturday afternoon guests will also have an opportunity to enjoy the “Melodies on Main Street” Concert Series with special music presented by The Galbraith Clan. John and his daughters Lindsay and Laura will be performing at the 1920s Bandstand from 1-3 p.m.  The afternoon concert is free and included with admission to the Historic Village.
To receive free admission on Saturday, July 20, Lucas County residents should be prepared to present a driver’s license or other form of ID to verify county residency.
Children 5 and under are always free with family and Sauder Village members receive free admission to the Historic Village for an entire year. Senior, military and AAA discounts are also available.
