Oregon native Krista Powers will host a meet-and greet for her book, “Midlife Calm: An Alternative to Midlife Crisis,” Saturday, July 16 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the library at Coy Elementary School, 3604 Pickle Rd., Oregon.     Powers, who currently lives in Covington, Kentucky, says she is excited to share the message of her book with the community that supported her throughout her formative years.
In addition to being a Coy alumna, her mom, Dianne Powers, taught second grade at Coy from 1989-2006. Her older sister, Patrice Powers-Barker, also attended the school and her nephew, Nathan Barker, is a current student there.
Powers’ intention is for the message within the pages of her book to create curiosity in individuals, spark conversations, shift cultural norms and heal the world.
“I have a vision of midlife calm being a conversation that inspires and gives permission for people to fully embrace who they are and celebrate those around them for who they are as well,” she says.
        The book description includes:
“What would happen if you silenced societal expectations to the point you could hear your true inner voice? How would it feel to embrace that you are a human being, not a human doing? This is what happens and how it feels to experience your Midlife Calm. Beware: When you choose and shift into Midlife Calm, you will experience freedom, growth, joy, clarity and abundant possibilities.”
Powers is also the CEO and founder of Potere Coaching. Professionally, she has more than two decades of experience helping individuals and organizations dive into the deep work of innovation and transformation.
At the family-friendly open house event, Powers will say a few words at 10:15 a.m. Books will be available for purchase ($20 plus tax) and can be signed by the author. A kids’ table will be provided with bookmarks to color and take home.
