GAF didn’t
refuse Boomfest
To the editor: I would like to respond to the letter to the editor in the June 17 issue of The Press titled “Poor choice for fest site.”
As the president of the GAF Society, I want to clarify that Oak Shade Grove did not refuse to host the Oregon Boomfest this year. Unfortunately, we already had the grounds reserved for another event on the date requested by the mayor. We strive to always maintain a good relationship with the City of Oregon and the administrators.

Border safety
questioned

To the editor: On the second weekend in June, eight men crossed into our country who were on the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force radar for having ties to the terrorist group Isis.
On May 3, 2024, two illegal aliens from Jordan attempted to breach the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia. Why? What was their motive?
A mother of five children was murdered in 2023 by an illegal alien from El Salvador who was wanted for another murder in his home country.
On February 22, 2024 Laken Riley, a nursing student from Georgia, was murdered by a 26-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela.
The stories go on and on. All countries have the moral obligation to protect their borders and citizens by all means.
Why is the current administration not doing this? Why are the Democrats OK with letting unvetted people pour into our country? What is their motivation? They certainly aren't the party of compassion if you ask the families of these two American women killed.
Some people may be crossing in search of a better life, but not one of these illegal aliens fit this mold.
My family’s safety will be first for me in November above all else.
