Supporting our veterans
To the editor: The Elmore American Legion Auxiliary would like to thank the Elmore community for its loyal support of the Poppy Drive, which was held over the Memorial Day Weekend.
The Poppy Drive raised more than $1,700, with 100% of the funds collected going back to the local veterans through various programs.
We would also like to the thank the Elmore citizens who helped the auxiliary with the collection of funds; this would not have been possible without their assistance.
Also, a big shout-out to the Woodmore first-grade class, who learned about Poppy Day and the meaning behind the poppy. They also colored pages in support of our veterans. The artwork, which is on display at the Elmore Post Office, will be distributed to nursing homes in the community so that the veteran residents may hang them in their rooms.
