Church building
worth saving

To the editor: There is a historic church building on Toledo Street in Curtice that was featured on the WTOL news recently.
I saw the report and wondered why it can't be saved and rebuilt for a community center for our children who live in the area.
The owner wants to save the building and has contracted for repairs.
The contractor said he has done everything the Allen Township trustees has asked him to complete and it is in the township meeting minutes if you chose to go to their website and read it. I did.
The stained glass windows, including a ceiling-to-floor window with an image of Jesus, is beautiful and shouldn't be demolished, but remain intact along with the building.
I would suggest that it become a community project that concerned citizens of Curtice embrace along with the committee for Curtice Kids Day. It wouldn't cost any money as the person who wants to save the building will cover the expenses for the repairs.
We need a community center for our children. When my children were school age we dreamed of such a center. There weren't any organized activities then or now. Our children deserve a safe space to socialize with their peers with adult supervision.

Editor’s note: The Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals has upheld a trial court decision that said the township trustees properly issued a demolition order for the building.

Remember a
fallen hero
To the editor: New York police officer Jonathan Diller is not spending a beautiful day with his wife and one-year-old son today. Sadly, he lost his life March 25 by the action of a career criminal who had been released back into the community with 21 previous arrests.
Officer Diller's wife was at the funeral home on March 28 mourning the loss of her husband, and the realization of raising their son by herself.
This is beyond comprehension. We vilify our police officers and then treat career criminals as if they are the victim.
An NYPD officer lost his life and President Biden was in New York on March 28 - the first day of officer Jonathan Diller's showing at the funeral home.
President Biden has not spoken on the horrific, unjustified, nonsensical killing of police officer, husband, son, and father.
Why was President Biden in New York on March 28? He was in New York with former presidents Obama and Clinton for a fundraiser that was estimated to bring the Biden campaign $25 million.
You have to love the priorities of our former "leaders.” If you want to continue living in a country that is out of control, that puts criminals and gangs before your family, keep on voting for Democrat-led administrations.
You are putting your family on the line, because, just like officer Diller’s family, you are just a number. This administration has greater aspirations of making sure this criminal with 21 prior arrests,
now 22 with officer Diller’s murder, has three square meals and a warm bed to sleep in. That is until they release him back into the community.
By the way, former President Trump accepted an invitation to be at the funeral home on March 28 out of respect for this fallen officer.
I purposely kept mentioning the name of officer Jonathan Diller lest we forget what happened to this hero.
