Letters To The Editor
Skip the primary,
on to November
To the editor: When I turned 18 registering to vote was a top priority. My parents stressed that if I wanted my voice counted then civic involvement-voting was my duty.
I registered to vote and haven’t missed any election in 58 years. No matter the type of election local, state or national I cast my ballot. I honor the results, whether to my liking or not. I weather the campaign seasons, listening to local and national news programs and discussing the candidates and issues.
This November I will vote again, but what is different I wish November was tomorrow. I dread the vitriol, the negative campaign advertisements, the crucifying of candidates (both political parties) and the never-ending bombardment by news media (all forms) covering the elections (congressional and presidential).
Let’s just vote, skip to November. We don’t need a campaign season. It’s way too expensive, tribal hatred abounds and most people already have decided their candidate choices. I know this is just wishful thinking, but: Hurry November hurry.
