Letters To The Editor
Council causing
its own problems
To the editor: We have had 11 candidates running for Oregon City Council but Tim Zale has withdrawn his name.
In the Aug. 21 issue of The Press, he said: “There are some individuals in Oregon who were not very nice. I have thick skin and I can take it, but you get tired of it. I’m starting to see some party politics creep in right now and I hope it doesn’t continue.”
Many of us residents, who voted them into office, are sick and tired of them not representing us. They get into office and the crown goes on.
Zale neglected to mention that many of the things he states were of his own doing. He made a ruling a resident wasn’t allowed to speak at council meetings unless they called him and got his approval as to what was going to be presented and the allotted time to speak.
He never brought this up to council members and it is against the city charter.
There were repercussions when 22 residents showed up at council meetings, protesting his decisions.
He also stated in the interview the “political environment currently is a little crazy.”
I agree and note it is due to decisions of our city leaders.
We are losing Oregon fast because decisions they are making are leaving us a door step away from being annexed to Toledo. This is what our city manager, mayor, and council are working for.
They gave Toledo our 911 service which has become a disaster. One woman in Easthampton was shot and killed because Toledo 911 handled it wrongly.
Two boys were kidnapped from Maumee Bay and taken to East Toledo, tied up in a vacant house, and the house set on fire.
A call for help on an assault was also mishandled. Oregon and Toledo are being rightfully sued.
The east end of Oregon is being encroached by industry.
Those citizens have moved to Oregon for a setting of peace and quiet. What are they getting? Industry and a bar in the former number 1 fire station.
The election is approaching and we need to clean house and again in 2024.
