Leta F. Shaffer

Leta F. Shaffer, age 82 of Woodville, OH, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. She was born on June 29, 1939 in Gibsonburg, OH to Cecil G. and Matilda (Aldrich) Peck. On December 14, 1957 she married James A. Shaffer in Woodville United Methodist Church. Leta and James raised 3 children and have celebrated over 64 years of marriage together.  

Leta was a proud homemaker taking care of her husband and children. She was known around town for driving her golf cart everywhere. She was a fan of oldies music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s especially Elvis Presley. Leta had a passion of decorating her home for Halloween and Christmas not to mention her love of flower gardening. Another favorite past time was going to the casino and playing the slots. However, out of all of her joys, it was spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren that brought Leta the most joy. 

In addition to her husband James, Leta is survived by her children: Rick Shaffer of Woodville, Debbie (Jeff) Mercer of Woodville, Tammy (Fred) Gerwin of Gibsonburg, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and brother, Allen C. (Karen) Peck of Gibsonburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, and sisters: Janice, Shirley, Mary and Karen. 

Family and friends will be received 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 201 West Main Street, Woodville, OH. Memorials may take the form of contributions to: A humane society of the donor’s choice. Leta will be laid to rest in a family committal in Westwood Cemetery, Woodville, OH.
