Joy Claus
Joy Claus, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Hospice, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was 83.
Joy was born in Woodville, Ohio on December 27, 1940. Daughter of Gilbert and Irene Ohm. She met her best friend for life, Donald Claus and married in 1962. They were married for 61 years. Joy and Don raised three children: Barbara (Tim) Malsch, Steve (Kami) Claus and Deborah Beaty. She had 5 grandchildren: Nicole, Jonathan, Mitchell, Connor, and Carlie, along with three great-grandchildren.
She was employed at Riverside Hospital as an LPN and as a Respiratory Therapist. She and Don loved traveling to St. Maarten and Florida every year to meet up with friends. They loved to go fishing in Canada, along with spending quality time at their Michigan cottage with family and friends. They enjoyed traveling with their 5th wheel RV and visited every state except Hawaii and drove to Alaska three times to enjoy the scenery and catch salmon on the Kenai river. She also loved to spend time in the garden and share what she had grown with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
