Historical society to present Tour of Distinctive Homes Dec. 3

        The Oregon-Jerusalem Historical Society will present its 2022 Holiday Tour of Distinctive Homes Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
        This year’s tour will feature the following Oregon homes, new and old, decorated for the holiday season:
        • 4812 North Teal Lane, home of Jaci and John Bleau.
        • 4821 South Teal Lane, home of Stosha and David Brackett.
        • 1116 Schmidlin Rd., home of Lynn and Michael Folk.
        • 67 Drake Boulevard, home of Emee Kovesdi.
        • 147 Lawai Rd., home of Chad Rutkowski and Kevin Lintjer.
        Tours begin at the Brandville School Museum Complex, 1133 Grasser St. Oregon, where tickets, maps, and brochures will be distributed to participants.
        Tickets for the Holiday Tour of Distinctive Homes are $15. A limit of 250 tickets will be available. To reserve tickets, call Connie at 419-367-5254 or Nancy at 419-270-1654. Tickets can also be purchased online at ojhs.org. If spots remain, tickets may be purchased the day of the event before 2:30 p.m.
        Funds raised from the home tour will directly benefit OJHS.
        Parade of Trees
        While at the Brandville School, home tour participants can visit the Parade of Trees exhibit and purchase tickets for the Christmas Tree auction, beginning at 10 a.m. The display, open to the public, will feature nine uniquely decorated and themed Christmas trees, which will be raffled, along with other items. The raffle will be drawn at approximately 2:30 p.m. Raffle tickets are $5 for seven tickets. Additional “buy now” items will be available for purchase as well.
        In addition, the gift shop will be open for Christmas shopping at Brandville School that day. The shop now takes Visa, Mastercard, Discover, checks and cash.
        “During COVID, many nonprofits were unsure how they’d keep the heat and lights on in their buildings,” said   Michelle Quilter, OJHS president. “OJHS never experienced that problem because we have a very dedicated membership community that values the history of Oregon-Jerusalem Township. In 2020 and 2021, nine businesses made significant corporate membership contributions which helped maintain our buildings.  To thank those businesses, OJHS has made each business a sponsor for this Parade of Trees.”
        The 2020-2021 corporate members being recognized this year include

        • Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home - Lisa Pavley.
        Cookies & Selfies with Santa
        Also on Dec. 3, children and their parents and grandparents are invited to enjoy cookies and hot chocolate and take selfies with Santa from noon to 4 p.m. in the One Room Schoolhouse, which will be decorated with Christmas trees featuring ornaments created by Coy Elementary students. The event is free and open to the public.
        Parking is available at the Brandville School or in the First St. Mark's Lutheran Church parking lot.
