Hayes Presidential History Book Club to kick off Jan. 31

        Join presidential history enthusiasts in reading and discussing books about the American Presidency and related topics at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums’ Presidential History Book Club.
        The club meets from noon-1 p.m. monthly on Wednesdays. During some months, the club will feature an author or speaker related to the book topic.
        All are welcome to participate in this free club. Meetings will take place in-person and virtually on Zoom. Participants can bring their lunch. To obtain the monthly Zoom meeting information, contact historian Josh Dubbert at 419-332-2081, ext. 230, or jdubbert@rbhayes.org.
        The 2024 and early 2025 meeting dates and book titles are:
        • Jan. 31: “Keep Your Airspeed Up: The Story of a Tuskegee Airman,” by Harold H. Brown and Marsha S. Bordner. Bordner will join the group for the discussion.
        • Feb. 28: Continuation of discussion of “Keep Your Airspeed Up: The Story of a Tuskegee Airman,” by Harold H. Brown and Marsha S. Bordner.
        • March 27: “Tecumseh and the Prophet: The Heroic Struggle for America’s Heartland,” by Peter Cozzens.            • April 24: Continuation of discussion of “Tecumseh and the Prophet: The Heroic Struggle for America’s Heartland” by Peter Cozzens.
        • May 29: “A Man of Iron: The Turbulent Life and Improbably Presidency of Grover Cleveland,” by Troy Senik. • June 26: Continuation of discussion of “A Man of Iron: The Turbulent Life and Improbably Presidency of Grover Cleveland,” by Troy Senik.
        • July 31: “The Petticoat Affair: Manners, Mutiny, and Sex in Andrew Jackson’s White House,” by John F. Marszalek.
        • Aug. 28: Continuation of discussion of “The Petticoat Affair: Manners, Mutiny, and Sex in Andrew Jackson’s White House,” by John F. Marszalek.
        • Sept. 25: “The Amistad Rebellion: An Atlantic Odyssey of Slavery and Freedom,” by Marcus Rediker.
        • Oct. 30: Continuation of discussion of “The Amistad Rebellion: An Atlantic Odyssey of Slavery and Freedom,” by Marcus Rediker.
        The club does not meet in November due to Thanksgiving.
        • Dec. 11: “President Garfield: From Radical to Unifier,” by C. W. Goodyear.
        • Jan. 29, 2025: Continuation of discussion of “President Garfield: From Radical to Unifier,” by C. W. Goodyear.
        • Feb. 26, 2025: “ A Wicked War: Polk, Clay, Lincoln, and the 1846 U.S. Invasion of Mexico,” by Amy S. Greenburg.
        • March 26, 2025: Continuation of discussion of “A Wicked War: Polk, Clay, Lincoln, and the 1846 U.S. Invasion of Mexico” by Amy S. Greenburg.
        Dubbert leads this club. Hayes Presidential is closed on Wednesdays in January, February and March, but Dubbert will give book club participants access to the building for this event.
