Get ready for a “Miles of Smiles” at the Pemberville Free Fair

        One of the best parts of summer is fair season, and in Pemberville, they’re putting the final touches on the 77th Free Fair, set for Aug. 17-20 at Memorial Park in the village, 405 E. Front St.
        “The entertainment is booked, the events are planned, the fair food and rides are coming and we’re so excited to enjoy it all with all our fairgoers,” Kelli Bohland, president, Pemberville Free Fair, Inc., said.
        As always, the fair will offer a variety of activities for all ages. A few highlights include:
        • Kiddie Parade
        • Quilt Show
        • Swine Scramble
        • Nightly bingo
        • Tug of War
        • Grand Parade
        • Marching Band Extravaganza
        • Cattle Sale
        • Community church service
        • 5 Miler
        • Sidewalk chalk art
        • Amusement rides
        • Assorted fair food
        The fair will also include nightly entertainment on the Main Stage. Enjoy karaoke, beginning with Jere-E-Oke Wednesday from 8:45-10 p.m.
        Thursday’s lineup includes Johnny Rodriguez from 5-7 p.m. and The Riverbend Band from 7:30-10 p.m. On Friday, Brother Believe Me will perform from 8:30-11 p.m. Bob Stevens will take the stage from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by The Grape Smugglers, playing from 8:30-11 p.m.

        Mile of Smiles
        This year, prior to the Grand Parade on Saturday, Aug. 20, volunteers, community members, and excited fair attendees are invited to line the entire parade route to showcase a “Mile of Smiles,” beginning at 12:50 p.m. 
        This endeavor will take place all along the parade route, starting at the corner of Front and Hickory (end of the parade route), and winding through the Downtown Business District, all the way down East Front Street along Memorial Drive, onto College Ave down to Hickory Street.
        Photographers and videographers will be around to document exciting, memorable moments in this historic endeavor.
