Gerald "Jerry" Kopena

Gerald Michael Kopena, 69, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Heart and Vascular I.C.U at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born on December 23, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio to Michael and Valeria Kopena. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Clay High School. He worked a few years at Joseph’s Supermarket before becoming a forklift operator for Crown Cork & Seal Company, where he worked until he retired in 2001. Jerry married his wife, Jolene on June 2, 1984 and together they started their family. He loved hunting and fishing. Jerry had a special interest in accuracy shooting and making his own bullets. He was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed going to the game with his friend, Wayne. Jerry was a member of the N.R.A.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jolene; twin sons, Jeremy Kopena and Josh (Jami) Kopena; granddaughters, Willow and Jordyn and his sister, Linda (Jack) Powers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Valeria.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 9-11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 Main St. Genoa, OH. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of the Donor’s choice.
