Producer Jeffrey Seller and Theater League announced that the national tour of the Broadway musical “Hamilton” will premiere in Toledo as part of the 2021-2022 season.
Season members who renew their membership for the 2021-2022 season will be able to guarantee their seats for the premiere Toledo engagement of “Hamilton” before tickets become available to the general public.
More information about the 2020-2021 season is available at BroadwayInToledo.com.
Information regarding “Hamilton” engagement dates and how to purchase groups and single tickets will be announced at a later date.
“Hamilton” is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, the musical has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.
With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, “Hamilton” is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography. It has won Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

Super Sipper Saturday
TheWineBuzz, an Ohio-based wine media company, is promoting Super Sipper Saturday on May 2.
Super Sipper Saturday is a grassroots marketing initiative that encourages Ohioans to support the state’s 330 small-business wineries that are struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic. More information about Super Sipper Saturday is available at www.thewinebuzz.com, including winery offerings and promotions and a free Ohio Wine Guide (courtesy of Ohio Grape Industries Committee) for download.
Winery tasting rooms were closed in mid-March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but most of Ohio’s wineries continue to operate and legally fulfill orders shipped throughout the state. With shuttered tasting rooms, wineries have stepped up with other offerings, including food and wine curbside pickup, contactless payment, virtual wine tastings – and even wine slushies to go.
Chateau Tebeau Vineyard and Winery, in Helena, one of more than 100 wineries participating in Super Sipper Saturday, applauds the effort by TheWineBuzz. “We’re grateful for this program which puts Ohio wine in the spotlight and will generate wine orders that will help sustain us during this difficult time,” said Mary Tebeau, owner and tasting room manager.
Founded in 2008, Chateau Tebeau is a family-owned winery and restaurant on a 36-acre rural farm about 15 miles from Lake Erie. Tebeau noted that in addition to discounts on case purchases and availability of shipping to most states, the winery is offering free local delivery. More information, including its online store, can be found at www.chateautebeauwinery.com.

Concert rescheduled
A special concert planned for late April in the Toledo Museum of Art’s GlasSalon has been postponed until October, as the Museum remains temporarily closed to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
TMA will welcome “Terry Riley with Gyan Riley: Live at 85!” on Oct. 30.
Riley, a California composer known as one of the founders of music’s Minimalist movement, will perform with his son Gyan, who accompanies him on guitar. Their performance will celebrate Riley’s musical career, family and the joys of improvisation.
The presentation will offer the audience the rare opportunity to experience an evening with Riley’s hypnotic, multi-layered, polymetric and eastern-flavored improvisations. The composer’s seminal work, “In C” (1964), changed the course of 20th-century music with a form based on interlocking repetitive patterns.
Tickets are $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers and are available at toledomuseum.org. Tickets already purchased for the April concert will be automatically transferred to the October performance date.

Fremont Speedway puts racing on hold
Due to the continued regulations imposed by the State of Ohio because of the COVID-19 pandemic, racing at Fremont Speedway has been postponed until further notice.
“We had hoped the governor would open up the state this coming weekend but that didn't happen. We will continue to abide by the state orders and, hopefully, they will change soon,” said Ryan Schiets, director of the Fremont Speedway Race Track Committee. “We want to go racing as much as all the race teams and fans – we need some fun and a distraction from all that's going on. Hopefully the Track that Action Built will have action very soon.”
Schiets said the speedway is still looking at extending the racing season into October to make up for the missed dates.
