Sometimes, something is so good, you never forget it.
For John Fletcher, Sr., that something was the sloppy Joes he savored in the Clay High School cafeteria when he was a student there from 1942-45.
Fletcher, who is 94 and now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, recently reached out to The Press to see if anyone remembers sloppy Joes made by Mrs. Harvey, and if they might have the recipe.
“Mrs. Harvey made the best sloppy Joes I have ever eaten,” Fletcher said. “They were made of ground beef and only cost 5 cents.”
Anyone with a recollection or perhaps Mrs. Harvey’s recipe may email twalro@presspublications.com, or call 419-836-2221, ext. 22 and the information will be forwarded to Fletcher.
