The heat of the summer is on, and that means the fun goes up when the sun goes down at Cedar Point Nights, July 29 through Aug. 21.
Each evening at 7 p.m., the annual signature festival extends a day of fun well into the night as the park lights up the world-famous Cedar Point Beach for a can’t-miss summertime party. Access to Cedar Point Nights is included with Cedar Point admission and is a great complement to a multi-day, overnight getaway to Cedar Point.
Cedar Point Nights is hosted by the eclectic and comical “Fitzgerald Family,” a squad of over-the-top characters who’ve spent their summers visiting the historic Hotel Breakers, enjoying all the amenities it and Lake Erie have to offer. Guests can meet and visit with Sully, Pookey, Mia and Alex Fitzgerald as they pop up at various activities, including the Lake Erie Luau and beach dance party.
New this year, guests can use the exclusive Cedar Point Nights “Sand Dollar” currency and exchange these special tokens for food items, games and more. Sand Dollars can be used at Lake Erie Luau and the winner-every-time games and are available for purchase at cedarpoint.com and inside the Lakeside Pavilion during the event.
        Lake Erie Luau
The new Lake Erie Luau is Cedar Point’s twist on a Polynesian dining experience with Great Lakes-inspired foods, treats and specialty drinks. This centerpiece of Cedar Point Nights features five food stations with chef-prepared tastes like roasted steak and vegetable skewers, walleye bites with spicy remoulade, fried yellow perch street tacos, Caribbean-style jerk chicken, rustic redskin potato salad and pineapple and teriyaki chicken skewers. Dessert stations will feature summer berry parfaits and Hawaiian dream cake and pineapple or coconut cheesecake bars.
Inside the Lake Erie Luau, adults can chill in the Luau Bar, a themed social space and lounge serving specialty cocktails. Featured drinks include the Blue Riptide fish bowl and portable summer cooler bags with flavors of Strawberrita, White Lightning and Henny Raz. Along the Cedar Point Boardwalk, the mobile Boardwalk Beer Bike will serve a variety of beers and seltzers.
        Private beach bungalows
The best way to enjoy the Cedar Point Beach during the day or during Cedar Point Nights in the evening is inside the new private beach bungalows. Available for rental, the bungalows include lounge seating, fire pits, service from the adjacent Sand Bar, access to the Lake Erie Luau menu and a complimentary glow souvenir and Boardwalk Cruiser ride.
Guests can reserve their private beach bungalow online in advance at cedarpoint.com. Bungalows are available for either daytime or nighttime use, and each must be purchased separately.
        Beach and boardwalk fun
For more than 150 years, the Cedar Point Beach has been the home of summer fun for all. The tradition continues at Cedar Point Nights with live music from Cedar Point’s own Toes in the Sand Band and free games like beach cornhole and the kids’ seashell dig. If relaxation is in order, lounge chairs next to cozy fire pits or the light-filled Glow Lounge oasis are available.
Families can embark on a journey to find treasure in the new Fitzgerald Family Capsule Quest. The interactive treasure hunt features highlighted clues along the beach and boardwalk that lead to the Fitzgerald Family’s buried time capsule. Celebrate a win with the beach dance party as DJ Alex Fitzgerald spins the family’s favorite tunes.
        Games and merchandise
New winner-every-time games make their debut at Cedar Point Nights, like Light Up the Net – a game of beach basketball. Additional games include the Glow Ring Toss and Ring Around the Seagull – two twists on classic games; or guests can spin the Prize Wheel to win one of many prizes. Sand Dollars are required to play these featured games. Exclusive merchandise, including glow items, a limited-edition t-shirt and souvenir button, is also available throughout the event.
