Artist Susan Prentice displaying works on Magruder’ Healing Wall

The works of Susan Prentice, resident artist at the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council’s The Arts Garage (TAG), are now on display at the Healing Wall in Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.
The Healing Wall is a rotating exhibit of artists from around Ottawa County which began more than nine years ago as a collaboration between the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council and the hospital.
The Healing Wall, which is located in the outpatient wing hallway, is designed to offer a few moments of peace and reflection for hospital visitors.
Magruder Hospital is located at 615 Fulton St. Port Clinton.
        About the artist
Susan Prentice is one of more than 20 resident artists with working space in (TAG). She has worked as an x-ray technician, in addiction services, with Detox in Erie County as a chiropractic office manager, and helped set up Genesis by the Lake in Vermilion – a 32-bed facility for women in recovery and their children could live in sobriety.
Prentice turned to advocacy as well as art to heal after the unexpected death of her son Christopher in 2013. “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time,” Prentice said.
Besides photography, she also dabbles in painting, which are also on display at the Healing Wall. She said that she’s learned that art, in multiple forms, is an outlet for her.
Prentice’s work is on display through the end of April. All of the pieces on display are for sale.
To purchase a piece from the Healing Wall, contact Lis Brand, Magruder Hospital’s administrative director of marketing and public relations, at 419-734-3131, ext. 3145.
