Adopt America Network celebrates 40th anniversary
Adopt America Network is celebrating 40 years of uniting families.
AAN believes every child deserves a family and connects children waiting in foster care with permanent families, providing support before, during and after the family is united.
To kick off the celebration AAN will host a Movie Night Friday, April 21 at Cedar Creek Church in South Toledo, featuring the movie “Chosen,” with a special performance by the Crossroads Praise Band and a special Q&A with producer Jason Campbell. The film follows six families through their journeys of fostering and adoption.
A second movie night will be held Friday, May 26 at Levis Commons in Perrysburg. The film, “Instant Family,” is a feel-good movie about a family that decides to foster three children.
Also new this year will be a 5K, which will be held on Friday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Levis Commons with a 6 p.m. Kid Fun Run. Pre-registration can be done online at Register online at adoptamericanetwork5k.org/register.
Adopt America Network was founded in 1983 by Richard K. Ransom, who was also the founder of Hickory Farms. Ransom dedicated his life to helping children. Since its inception, nearly 5,000 children from foster care have found homes and families through the nonprofit, which continues to provide services to more than 400 children and 700 families annually.
AAN was the 2022 winner of the Nonprofit Excellence Award, the 2020 Business Bureau Torch Award for Workplace Ethics, has been licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to assist in the placement of children since 1987, and has been certified through the Ohio Mental Health Addiction Services Board since 2021 as a Community Behavioral Health and Medicaid Provider.
