The Oregon-Northwood Rotary Club will present the Second Annual Run for Literacy and Golf Ball Drop on Sept. 7 with proceeds to benefit literacy projects in the community. The event will occur at Fassett Junior High School and includes a 5K route for runners and 1K route for walkers.

In Northern Buckeye Conference girls golf, Lake and Eastwood have good roster numbers, including a combined nine letter winners returning.
However, both teams face challenges — one team with multiple injuries and the other with girls who are new to the game.

Last year, Eastwood girls soccer stunned Northwest Ohio when first team All-Ohio forward McKenna Souder and a group of freshmen joined with a strong contingent of upperclassmen to lead the Eagles to a 19-2 season.

The Jim Murray Memorial Golf Outing will be Saturday, Sept. 14 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at Maumee Bay State Park Golf Course. All proceeds benefit the Jim Murray Memorial Scholarship Fund for Creighton Practitioners and Instrumental Music Education.
