The Biggest Week team would like to express our deepest and most sincere gratitude to the remarkable volunteers who make the festival possible.

Without the thousands of hours of hard work, boundless energy, steadfast support, great ideas, truckloads of smiles, and endless supply of laughter, The Biggest Week would not be possible. We sometimes joke that the festival could be called, “The Biggest Week in Volunteering!”

The staff at Black Swamp Bird Observatory would like to give special thanks to Festival Coordinator, Delores Cole, of Port Clinton, Ohio. “Miss D,” as she is affectionately known, gives so generously of her time and expertise that it’s hard to imagine what the festival would be like without her. Hardworking, dedicated, talented, and incredibly organized, Miss D epitomizes what it means to give back through volunteerism.

In 2011, the Observatory awarded Delores its Shieldcastle Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, a prestigious award recognizing meritorious service to BSBO and to the community.

If you visit The Biggest Week registration table at Maumee Bay Lodge, you’re sure to meet Miss D. When you do, please tell her how very much her hard work is appreciated.
