High school students in Penta Career Center’s construction trades programs spent the school year working on a 2,200-square foot house at 10700 Roachton Rd., Perrysburg Township. An open house was held May 18 for the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom house, constructed for the Britten family. As summer camps, fairs, vacations and family picnics take you and your family away to many fun-filled places during the warm weather months, now is a good time to get vaccinated.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reminds Ohioans that immunizations are the most effective way to prevent illness from vaccine-preventable diseases. The ongoing measles and mumps outbreaks in Ohio also serve as a reminder to all Ohioans that they should be up-to-date on immunizations.

You've probably never heard of Louis Hirschy. But, if you’ve lived in East Toledo or spent any time there, you enjoyed the product of his passion. His works of art, if you will. For Louis Hirschy, was a sculptor, an artist of landscape and his medium was trees. Lots of them.

The alleged leader of a violent home invasion in Oak Harbor last December will spend the next 14 years in prison.

Paul Thebeau, 22, Port Clinton, got the maximum sentence allowable by law Monday when he stood before Ottawa County Common Pleas Court Judge Bruce Winters to answer for crimes committed over a pack of missing cigarettes.

He had pleaded guilty in March to one count of felony aggravated robbery and intimidating a witness. Eight other charges were dropped in exchange for the plea, court records show.

The administration of the L. Hollingsworth School for the Talented & Gifted plans to start the 2014-15 school year in a new location.

The charter school recently completed the purchase of a building at 653 Miami Street and several other parcels from the now defunct River East Economic Revitalization Corp. for $307,744, according to the Lucas County auditor records.a

Terrence Franklin, Hollingsworth’s head of school, said Tuesday that renovation work on the vacant building – which had housed offices and facilities of JOBST - is proceeding on schedule.
