With spring comes the urge to clean out closets and basements and make some extra cash with a garage or yard sale. For some, the sales can be very profitable and fun but sellers are being warned to look at the money they are accepting for their unwanted items.

According to Detective Sgt. Tim Zale of the Oregon Police Department (OPD), the bureau has taken four reports of counterfeit bills over a two-weekend period.

Recipients of easements in the latest round of the Clean Ohio Agricultural Easement Purchase Program are expected to be announced in mid-July, the Ohio Department of Agriculture announced last week.

About $6.25 million in Clean Ohio funds are to be distributed.

More than 200 farm property owners, including nine from Wood, Lucas, and Sandusky counties, have submitted applications to the department of agriculture to be included in the easement purchase program that preserves land in perpetuity for agricultural use.

The cost of water rates in northern Wood County will be discussed at a public forum June 4 at the Rossford Public Library.

The forum, which will start at 7 p.m., is being hosted by Wood County Commissioner Tim Brown and State Representative Randy Gardner.

They described the forum as “fact-finding” in nature, saying they want to hear from Rossford and area residents regarding water contract issues with the City of Toledo as well as water rate hikes that have hit other communities in that part of the county.

The Libertarian Party of Ohio has begun organizing efforts in Wood County and will hold a public development meeting June 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Wood County Library main branch in Bowling Green.

Members of the party will present an overview of the party’s plans and its position on current issues.
